saturation flow Survey

The Saturation Flow Survey aims to measure how many vehicles can pass through a specific intersection during a green light. Your role as a surveyor is to accurately count the number of vehicles that move through the intersection when it is at full capacity.

During the survey, you'll need to position yourself at the intersection where you can clearly see the traffic flow. Start counting vehicles as soon as the traffic signal turns green and continue until it changes back to red. It's important to record the count in real time, noting the type of vehicles (cars, trucks, buses) as they pass.

Safety is a top priority while conducting this survey. Stay in a safe area away from moving traffic, and make sure you’re visible to drivers by wearing high-visibility clothing. If you encounter any unusual situations, such as accidents or traffic disruptions, take note of these as they can impact your results.
